BREAKING NEWS | The Rock to host Welsh Cup Final!
The Football Association of Wales has today confirmed that The Rock, the home of Cefn Druids AFC, will host the 2018/19 JD Welsh Cup Final between Connah’s Quay Nomads and The New Saints.
The Final will take place on Sunday 5 May at 14:45, and be broadcast live on S4C and streamed online on the S4C website and Sgorio Facebook page.
This will be the first time that Cefn Druids have hosted the JD Welsh Cup Final, although their ancestors Ruabon Druids hosted the 1894 Final at their Wynnstay Park ground. That game saw Chirk AAA win the last of their five trophies, beating Westminster Rovers 2-0.
This will be the fifth season in a row that Nomads and Saints have met in the JD Welsh Cup. Nomads won last season’s Quarter-Final meeting 2-1 on their way to winning the competition for the first time, while Saints have won the other three meetings, which have all been at either the Quarter or Semi-Final stage.
Andrew Howard, FAW Head of Competitions, said: “We’re very pleased to be bringing the JD Welsh Cup Final to the Rock for the first time. The Druids have a rich history in the JD Welsh Cup, having played in the first ever Final and winning the competition eight times in total. The club have fantastic facilities and we are delighted that they will be hosting the showpiece event in the domestic calendar.”
Tickets will be available on the day and next week on the FAW website. Prices are set at £8 for Adults, £4 for Over 65s and Students, and £2 for Under 16s.
