Huw Griffiths - WPL Manager of the Season


Last night at the Welsh Premier League Awards evening in Gwbert, Cardigan. The great and good of Welsh football gathered for the annual awards ceremony which highlight the stand out performances of the season and also shine a light on the hard work and commitment of those who are so important to the running of our clubs.

The Golden Boot was picked up by TNS man Greg Draper after a stand out season for the player, Luke Wall from Bangor City won the young player of the season and Jamie Mullan of TNS secured up Player of the Season. Barry Town man, Mike Cosslett was also recognised with a 'Unsung hero award'.

The Wales 'C' team received their Wales caps - Our own Naim Arsan's was received in his absence.

The highlight of the night is the highly prized 'Manager of the Season' award, Huw Griffiths made the shortlist last season but lost out to TNS' Craig Harrison - there was no repeats of last year as Huw was announced as the winner!!

There was an outburst of congratulatory messages on Social Media from all over Welsh Football, This season Huw has proven his skills guiding Druids to their highest ever top flight finish (5th) and guiding the team into the Europa League following a play-off win.

Everyone at the club would like to pass on our congratulations to Huw & his fantastic backroom staff! Llongyfarchiadau!

John Hughes, Chairman commented on the evening - "Tonight at the Cliff Hotel Gwbert we witnessed a fantastic evening of success for the WPL. Our own Huw Griffiths was awarded the WPL manager of the season.We also officially received the Euro Play Off Cup, and Naim Arsan, in his absence received the Wales C International cap. As Chairman of Cefn Druids, I can only express my sincere thanks to everyone at the club,and would like to emphasise that we are indebted to our loyal volunteers who should now share our success."
