Druids suffer a defeat to 9 man Quay

A trip to the Deeside stadium is never an easy one, especially as they tussle with Bangor & Bala for the 2nd spot and automatic Europa League spot.

Both sides started strongly, with not much created inside the opening 10 minutes - The first real chances came from Nomads with a chance by Spittle from a free kick being sent over the Druids goal. Druids continued with a strong effort, which was rewarded with a Mudimu goal in the 16th minute, a low strike from distance finding the bottom left corner of the Nomads goal.

A strong looking Druids defence teamed with Keeper Michael Jones managed to nullify most of the Nomads attacks in the lead up to half time, clearing the ball off the line in the 43rd min!

The second half started with Druids 1-0 up, Nomads were quickly reduced to 10 men as Jay Owen was shown a straight red for a challenge on a Druids player. This was followed minutes later by another straight red for George Horan for a challenge in the box.

Nomads reduced to 9 men with 30 mins left to play, allowed Druids some confidence and this was followed by a number of chances - The best being Arek Piskorski who fired a shot just wide of the Nomads goal.

On the 73rd min the ref awarded a penalty to Nomads as Spittle was brought down in the Druids area. Morris fired home from the spot bringing Quay level for the first time of the match.

Nomads sensing some momentum, appeared to play without any handicap with 9 men and held possession for a vast period of the second half. As Druids crowded the Nomads box looking for a winning effort, they were caught on the break and Bakare fired it into the top left putting Nomads ahead in the 85th min.

Druids in disbelief, saw out the game leaving the deeside stadium with no points, when the full 3 looked so assured at after Quay went down to 9 men.

The next match will be against TNS at Park Hall on 25th March at 14.00.
