Disappointment at Maes Tegid

Following their away win at Prestatyn, the Ancients headed into the Bala game with confidence. The home match resulted in a 3-0 routing of a Bala who had slumped in the league, this game wouldn't be as easy with Bala resurgent in recent results and hoping to secure their top 6 finish.

"It was a somewhat slow start to affairs at Maes Tegid, but once the two teams in this match found their feet it became a really entertaining battle between two evenly-matched sides.

Alec Mudimu and Ashley Ruane combined for the game’s first big chance as the former found space to gallop down the left and put a great cross in for the latter, but the onrushing Ruane could only poke wide.

The Lakesiders scored the opening goal though, with Adam Hesp being caught flat-footed to allow Mike Hayes in behind and the chaos that ensued saw the forward head across an open goal before Bala recycled play and Ian Sheridan headed home for 1-0.

The home side had a great chance for 2-0 soon afterwards, but that was bravely cleared off the line with some exceptional composure, and the score stayed at 1-0 going into the break.

The visitors came out flying after the break, and Ruane squandered a great chance to level the scores inside the first five minutes, but the home side weathered the storm and came out of the other side of it with Stuart Jones prodding home from a corner to make it 2-0.

Sheridan then had another chance cleared off the line, before Naim Arsan - who was excellent after the break - saw a looping cross fly perfectly into his path before smashing a first-time volley into the back of the net.

Ashley Morris made a superb save in goal for Bala five minutes later, preventing Druids from equalising late-on, and The Lakesiders took all three points."
