Big win for Ancients at Prestatyn

A must win game was set up for the Ancients as they visited The Seasider, 3 points would strengthen Druids aim of securing Top 6 as phase one draws to a close.

Conditions as Bastion Gardens were tough, the thawed snow followed by heavy rain proved a real test for one of the few remaining grass pitches in the welsh premier league.

"Another superb showdown set for this evening, Neil Gibson’s Prestatyn welcomed Cefn Druids to the Motion Finance Stadium for a clash that was hugely significant to both teams for different reasons, with The Ancients chasing security inside the top six and the home side looking to escape the drop zone.

Both sides had good chances early-on, with Druids in particular shooting a great effort over the bar from close range, but it was the home side who took the lead through Zyaac Edwards inside half an hour, before James Davies responded instantly for the visitors to level things up.

Ashley Ruane had a glorious chance to put Druids ahead midway through the second half as he stumbled upon what was more or less an open goal, but his shot wasn’t quite strong enough and enabled the defence to recover and clear.

However, Ruane redeemed himself and was able to make a telling impact as he scored what would be the winning goal after 79 minutes to give The Ancients a very valuable three points."
