Druids depleted ahead of cup tie
Cefn Druids will make a second attempt to travel to Llanfair United on Saturday with a shortage of numbers in the squad.
After the original date last weekend was called off because of a frozen pitch, Druids have agreed to switch the game back to the original conference date despite being without Naim Arsan and Adam Hesp who are away on Wales futsal duty.
Stuart Cook will face a race against time to return from his international duty with England while Kyle Parle is unavailable through work commitments and Jonny Taylor and Ashley Ruane are both cup-tied.
Added to that Huw Griffiths is still without the services of Max Penk and Jake Phillips because of long-term injuries. But Ellis Healing and Rakim Newton could be in line to make their debuts.
Following last week’s postponement, Griffiths is keeping the same message for his squad with discipline and patience being at the forefront.
He said: “It’s a difficult place to go. They’ve just had a good result against Flint and they’ve won away at the likes of Caernarfon and Guilsfield, so they’ll be no pushovers.
“I’ve got a lot of time for Rhys Stephens, their manager, as both a manager and a person.”
He added: “Our discipline will be key on the day. We need to be patient as we were there last season.
“We won 2-0, but we needed a goal-line scrambled clearance and a last minute goal to secure the points.
“Our players need to make sure they are in the right mindset from the start and adapt quickly. I still don’t want us to be this round’s casualty.”
Kick-off at Mount Field is 1.30pm.
