Griffiths urges patience and discipline

Cefn Druids’ squad has been urged to keep its discipline and patience ahead of Saturday’s JD Welsh Cup tie away to Llanfair United.

Druids travel to Mount Field for the re-arranged tie with Ellis Healing and Rakim Newton vying to make their debuts after signing this week.

Jonathon Taylor and Ashley Ruane will miss out, however, as both are cup-tied.

Manager Huw Griffiths has called on his side to be focussed on the job in hand during Saturday’s game as he is anticipating a tricky encounter against the Huws Gray Alliance side.

He said: “We were there last year so we know it’s a difficult place to go to. We may have won there 2-0, but we scraped it.

“It was a heavy pitch then and they kept it tight so I know it will be a tough game again tomorrow.

“They are on the back of a good result at Flint and Jamie Davies, who we’ve been interested in, is always a threat.

“I think they have a great manager in Rhys Stephens. I have the utmost respect for him as a manager and person.”

But, focussing on his team, Griffiths added: “We need to be patient and, more importantly, keep our discipline.

“We will have to up for it from the start and adapt quickly. There are casualties in every round and I don’t want it to be us this time, especially as we are the first tie of the round.”

Kick-off at Mount Field is 1.30pm.
