Druids 4-0 Albion (Charity Match)
The annual match between the two Cefn sides took place last night, the pre-season friendly has the added bonus of benefiting the local community with all proceeds going to worthy causes. This year is the turn of Rhosymedre Church with the money going towards the upkeep of the graveyard which has become overgrown in recent years.
The game ended 4-0 to Druids reflecting last years scoreline, with goals from James Davies x2, Matty Owen and a Trialist (Watch out for announcements on this player going forward).
The match was dominated by Druids possession of the ball having plenty of chances on goal but struggling to get the ball over the line, Albion provided a strong defense for large parts of the game and frustrated their opponents.
The game was suspended for a period during the 35th min when the Albion keeper Josh Roberts sustained a serious hand injury and was taken to hospital - We wish him a speedy recovery.
We'd also like to thank Albion for the game and wish them well for the season ahead. The match shows that community spirit is alive and well in Cefn and we look forward to playing Albion again next year.
