Another 3 points on the road!

A big fixture for Druids as 6th takes on 5th, Druids remain the perpetual underdogs in all fixtures in the championship conference and despite taking a point of TNS and running Bala close for 90mins, few would have doubted MET were favourites in this match.

The Archers will have hoped that their unblemished record against Cefn Druids would come to their aid this weekend and perhaps provide a good omen for the fixture in which they really needed a win. That never materialised for Christian Edwards’ side, however, as they were up against it almost instantly when Alec Mudimu made it 1-0 to the visitors inside 15 minutes.

Neil Ashton then had a wonderful opportunity to double The Ancients’ lead some five minutes later as he found himself in a one-on-one situation against Will Fuller, but the keeper did exceptionally well to make the stop and deny the Player of the Month nominee. Chris Baker levelled the score for the home side before the break as he capitalised on a defensive error by the visitors, and the teams entered halftime at 1-1.

Baker really had his tail up after bagging that first goal and he nearly got another not long afterwards as he hit the crossbar with an effort early in the second half, but it was Druids’ midfield maestro who bagged his brace first when Mudimu netted on 57 minutes to put Huw Griffiths’ men back in front.

James Davies squandered an opportunity to further extend the advantage soon after it was restored, but it was wasted, before Ashton got the goal his performance deserved and made it 3-1 to seal the three points, with Baker given his marching orders in added time to pile further misery on the Cyncoed outfit.
