Disappointment At Maes Tegid

Druids come away empty handed after a hand fought battle away at Bala.

With just one defeat for either side in their last five fixtures, this was always going to be a very tough game for either side to come away from with victory, but boy did they both give it their all to do so as Bala and Druids battled hard from the first minute to the last at Maes Tegid, with the outcome only determined with practically the last kick of the game.

Nathan Burke, Mike Hayes and Chris Venables led the attack for the home side early-on and peppered the visiting backline with crosses and shots to deal with, but that’s exactly what they did as Druids – and Mike Jones in particular between the sticks – weathered the storm and kept it goalless.

Alec Mudimu was once again at the heart of all of the positive play for Huw Griffiths’ side, and Iwan Cartwright was very industrious too, whilst Fisnik Hajdari managed to constantly pop up in promising positions for the visitors, who really took the game to The Lakesiders at times, continuing their positive start to Phase Two.

Goalkeeping and defensive heroics kept the scores level right until the death, when it seemed the game was destined to finish level and Druids were to grab another very impressive point, but that was when Hayes popped up with a great finish in added team to secure all three points.

Druids fans would be right to be disappointed as points shared would have reflected the flavour of the full 90 mins. Another impressive performance showed Druids are deserving of their top 6 finish.
