Druids hold out for all 3 points at Maesdu Park

Following last weeks superb win over Bala Town, Druids spirits were high but the prospect of playing Llandudno who had enjoyed one of the best starts to the JD WPL season of any team in the league was daunting.

In the Press Huw Griffiths played it cool, reasserting that this seasons plan was of course still league survival and that his side would be focussed ahead of the fixture, although he hoped for some goals as his side pursue a more attacking style of football this season. Last season this fixture resulted in a 0-0 draw.

The first half Druids came out strong and dominated the play, Mudimu making the score sheet after 18 minutes with a superb volley followed by more of the same as Pritchard made it 2-0 after 25 mins. The game was certainly one of two halves and a resurgent Llandudno returned to the pitch after half time, confident and motivated with plenty of chances it was inevitable when Hughes slotted one past Michael Jones in the 57th minute.

Llandudno continued to chase the second to no avail, with three minutes added time there looked to be some late drama but Druids continued to suppress the Llandudno attack. After cries for the whistle from the Cefn Druids faithful they were rewarded with the full 3 points!

Druids look confident ahead of their next fixture against Llandudno as they return to The Rock this Saturday against Newtown (7th October KO: 14.30)
