Druids pick up a point on the road

Druids were still on the hunt for their first points of the new premier league season after their 3-0 humbling against a fit and well organised Cardiff Met side.

Next up was Newtown away, Latham Park never an easy place to pick up points was made worse by the torrential rain and wind which came hammering down just before Kick off.

Newtown were equally hungry for points following their 3-0 defeat to Bala Town the week before.

Druids picked up a penalty in the 12 minute after Eckersley was sent tumbling by Murphy, this was neatly put away by Ashely Ruane, but most of the early chances went the way of the Robins.

Druids chased their second goal coming close soon after the penalty which chances from Eckersley and Buckley.

In the dying minutes of the game, Newtown looked resurgent with a number of chances - finally finding the net in the 86 minute, the goal coming from a corner with the ball bundled across the line admit confusion Rushton was named as goalscorer.

The Ancients will be disappointed to concede so late on in a game and will now be hungry to take the 3 points off Aberystwyth when they visit The Rock on Friday.
