Cefn Druids has made its first moves in the transfer window by making a double signing and extending the loan stay of Corey Roper.
Huw Griffiths has brought in defender Nathan Peate from Llandudno after his spell with Gresford Athletic last season impressed the Ancients’ boss.
He has also signed Italian goalkeeper Filippo Mosetti Casaretto from Serie D outfit SSDRL Rapallo Ruentes 1914.
Peate, 25, joined Llandudno in the summer after Griffiths tried to capture the defender following his performances at Clappers Lane.
But, now Griffiths has got his man, and is delighted to have signed him.
He said: “Nathan is a local lad and I’ve been an admirer of him for a while.
“We tried to sign him in the summer but he chose to go to Llandudno, but found his chances limited there. I feel that he will have more of an opportunity with us.”
Meanwhile 26-year-old Mosetti joins after an earlier attempt to capture his signature fell through, but Griffiths was keen to get the deal done once the opportunity arose.
“He’s a goalkeeper with a good pedigree,” Griffiths said. “He was keen to come here and challenge for a place in the side.”
As well as the two new faces, Druids agreed with Wrexham to extend Corey Roper’s loan deal until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has been a regular in the Druids side this season and all parties were happy to extend the loan further.
The Druids boss said: “I’m delighted to extend Corey’s loan. He’s a great lad and has played in a lot of different positions for us this season.
“He needs to keep improving and, hopefully, we can have an impact on him and his development.”
Griffiths also said that there may be more new faces coming in before the close of the window at the end of the season.
“We need to add numbers to the squad. We’re looking to bring in players who will strengthen the squad and give us more of a chance of staying up.
“Hopefully there will be a few more coming in before the end of the month.”
